Stacie Young
Stacie has taught private piano and oboe lessons since January 1979. In the 80’s she was a home child care provider while raising her 3 sons, and taught music lessons evenings and Saturdays. Once her children were grown she began a 22 year career as a school librarian for Eden Prairie Schools. Stacie has a wealth of experience working with children.
March 2020 began her transition into full time teaching and performing. Finally able to immerse herself in music she used the lockdown to grow her teaching business, take private piano and oboe lessons again to “up her game”, and spends hours a day in practice.
Stacie has a flexible philosophy about teaching, recognizing that each student has different interests, gifts and challenges. Working one on one allows each lesson to be tailored to the individual student. Working with preschoolers, elementary through high schoolers, students who benefit from adaptive lessons, as well as adults, is like an ever moving target. It’s not a one size fits all approach. Her lessons include general musicianship, ear training, sight reading, theory and technique. She has assisted oboe students prepare for placement tests and auditions for GTCYS.
Outside of her teaching and performing life, Stacie treasures being a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoys hiking, running and biking, and vacations at the beach.
